TOD is an informal video file format used by JVC (TOD and MOD), Panasonic (MOD only), and Canon in some of their digital camcorders, similar to tapeless recording formats such as XDCAM EX or HDV tapeless recordings. Neither Panasonic or JVC has ever fully explained why these file extensions exist, but it is believed they both use MPEG-2 transport streams with similar codecs.
