Microsoft offers OXPS document files as an alternative to PDFs with fixed layout printing support. In 2009 Ecma International and Microsoft raised OXPS to an international standard status; OXPS itself is not considered a separate file format. If you receive an OXPS file extension, inquire as to their Windows version and the OS they are running on their system. The older XPS format may no longer work on modern systems and Microsoft no longer recommends creating these documents; rather it would be wiser to convert them to PDF for ease of sharing across devices and dynamic functionalities. If you're having difficulty opening OXPS files, try re-installing the XPS Viewer program from Microsoft's official website to fix most cases of incompatibility. If this doesn't help, there may be a security issue on your system; possibly an infection with malware, and it would be prudent to conduct a full system scan to look for viruses or spyware.
