PVF is a low-bandwidth ADPCM-based digital audio file format used for recording and storing human speech. This format is typically found with legacy voice modems or software-based answering machines; however, it's also used by Authentica's PageRecall product for secure document storage which cannot be read outside its system of origin. The Bentley Historical Library prefers uncompressed WAV (Waveform Audio File) audio content and has established guidelines for submission of such files into their collection. Uncompressed WAVs offer superior audio playback quality while simultaneously being capable of storing metadata about its source material.
