What Is an AIFF File? Apple Computer introduced AIFF audio file formats in 1988 as an expansion of Interchange File Format (IFF). They contain uncompressed stereo audio with sample rates of 44-1KHz and bit depths of 16 bits - often known as CD quality audio - plus loop point information and musical notes suitable for hardware samplers. AIFF file structures include both Common chunk and Sound Data chunk, the latter housing actual sound frames; additionally they support various metadata tags and annotations for metadata purposes. AIFF audio files tend to be uncompressed, which makes them larger in size than compressed formats like MP3. Although compression options exist that can reduce size without impacting quality, not all software programs support them.
Upload a file, click "Convert", and use additional options to quickly modify its contents before downloading the final AIFF file after processing has completed.
